sculpture vulture I am not...I'm just trying have a good time

In the last few couple of weeks ive been doing my induction into sculpture and all in all ive really been enjoying it, Ive never done any sculpture till now, its nicwe to be doing something new, heres some of my creations.

To begin with i was going to simply cast the orginal keyboard but there was flaw in that the keys would compress and not give good enough defination.
To produce this piece i took clay and formed it into a bath, then took the differnt sized keys and printed them into the surface of the clay, I layered plaster, skrim and finshed with another layer of plaster to give it more stength.

When i finally managed to remove the clay mold I was instantly pleased with the result of this experiment.
My mold produced a megative layout of a keyboard..I'm pleased with the end result especially as its my first time using this process.

As part of my project involving found objects i decided to splice shoes in half and reconstuct them as a new and rather uncomfortable looking cross...i tend to use whatever comes to hand...nails are good fun,.this is a work in progress and an idea i plan to expand on.

This is a sandcast of the inside of half a shoe,,the amount of detail which can be obtained is remarkable
